The 4 Pillars of our Giveback Mission
-
You Have to
Start SomewhereThe task of changing the world can be daunting. We started with our community, our 1-for-1 giveback pledge and our mission to defeat dehydration globally. -
The Importance
of CommunityWe lay aside the "me" and prioritize the "we" through action. We know that, together, we can accomplish anything. -
Connecting Through
a Universal LanguageThe most important moments of our giveback trips are when we make genuine connections with the people we meet. Whether it’s sports, dance, or handing out sticks, we find a universal language that can help us connect. -
Creating a Culture
of ServiceWe hire people who are passionate about changing the world, and create a culture of giving in our own office so the effect can ripple out into the world.
Over 2.5 Million Sticks Donated
In 2014, we donated 500 sticks to a homeless shelter in Los Angeles. It wasn’t a lot, but we knew we had to start somewhere if we wanted to make a real impact. The next year, we donated 28,000 sticks to Haiti. Our mission grew larger. In 2018, we partnered with Direct Relief, one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world, in order to expand our reach. With their help, we sent our product to all corners of the globe. By 2020, we surpassed 2.5 million sticks donated around the world. Below are some of the more well-known locations where we’ve donated product.

Giveback Timeline
It all started with the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, when our Founder & CEO Brandin Cohen learned about the extreme conditions in the slums of Port-au-Prince. Deeply moved by the stories he read, he raised the money to send 20,000 meals to the city in a 30-day period. The success of this venture showed him that, when we harness the power of community, we have the power to make a real difference. It also inspired the company’s lifelong mission to give to people in need. In 2012, Liquid I.V. was founded upon the basis of creating groundbreaking products to fuel life’s adventures, with the ultimate goal of helping those who are less fortunate.

2019 Nepal
The lack of infrastructure in many Nepali cities and communities makes the country especially vulnerable. So when a devastating earthquake hit the small country in 2015, Nepal was thrown into chaos. Many Nepalis in rural villages are forced to walk hours through mountainous terrain to reach a doctor. In May of 2019, we teamed up with Mountain Heart Nepal to bring a medical clinic to Ghale Gaun, a remote village in the Annapurna Region. We distributed sticks of Liquid I.V., presented a lesson on hydration to high school students, and learned about the problems facing the Nepali population.
2018 Direct Relief
In 2018, we partnered with top humanitarian organization Direct Relief. Through Direct Relief’s vast network of charities and disaster relief teams, Liquid I.V. is able donate to those in need all over the world at a moment’s notice.
“ORS products are among our top five most requested disaster and relief items,” stated Andrew MacCalla, Direct Relief’s Director of International Programs & Emergency Response. “In disaster areas and those hit by extreme poverty, famine and limited access to water, hydration is a matter of life and death. When we can triple the hydration value of one bottle of water with a serving of Liquid I.V., we are going to be able to help hundreds of thousands of people around the world in a very impactful way.”
Supporting 1,000+ healthcare facilities in 80+ countries and all 50 states, Direct Relief is the largest provider of charitable medicines in the United States. The scale of Direct Relief allows us to donate more product than ever before, in an efficient and responsible way.

2017 Uganda
Liquid I.V. partnered with Feed the Hungry to bring critical hydration to a refugee settlement camp in the Kiryandongo District, located in the Western region of Uganda. Many of the people who received Liquid I.V. were fleeing the South Sudan Civil War crisis. With limited water supply, this region is considered to be one of the most at-risk for deaths related to dehydration.
2016 Haiti
In the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake, Haiti faced a cholera outbreak that resulted in widespread, chronic dehydration. In our first international giveback initiative, Liquid I.V. partnered with Hands Together to deliver over 49,000 servings of Liquid I.V. to schools and health clinics in the slums of Port-au-Prince.

2012 Liquid I.V. Founded
For founder Brandin Cohen, giving back was always a priority, so he created our 1-for-1 giveback pledge to defeat dehydration globally. While our mission has grown a lot since then, we’re proud of our roots.
